The Solution
Scaletronic designed and installed a turnkey SLAM system for byrd’s warehouses. Key components include:
DWS Station: Automatically scans barcodes, weighs, and measures each parcel.
Print & Apply Modules: Instantly print and apply labels without manual handling.
5-Way Sorter: Routes parcels into the correct accumulation chutes using wheel diverters.
This end-to-end setup guarantees accurate data capture and seamless flow from receiving to dispatch.
The Challenge
Before SLAM, byrd’s fulfillment centers relied on manual labeling and manifesting, which slowed down processing—especially during peak periods. Entering weights and dimensions by hand introduced human error, and without automated sortation, parcels often piled up, delaying shipping cut-off times.
